Closing out our inaugural CRFT weekend, we will be taking up the UAlbany Campus Center West Auditorium, Multipurpose Room, Boardroom, and Studio from 9:00am-6:00pm! Each room will be hosting their own events from workshops to panel discussions to a one-act festival and a Playwright’s Jam!

Shakespeare's Birthday Party

“If music be the food of love, play on.” - Duke Orsino, Twelfth Night

Join us as we celebrate William Shakespeare’s birthday at Albany Barn, located at 56 2nd Street in Albany! Come and get your Bard on with the Shakespeare mad Capital Region theatre community! Scenes, songs, monologues, light fare and raffles to celebrate Big Willie’s 461st and raise funds for CRFT!

Featured in our line up are excerpts from Henry V, Twelfth Night, Othello, Hamlet, Julius Caesar, and so many more! The performances will be showcasing the talent of our own local actors such as the Columbia Country Players, Sara Buchter, Adam Coons, George Filieau, Liz Helmer, J. Hunter, Ryan Palmer, Krista Rivers, J. Scala and so many more!

This will be a jam-packed night of honoring one of the most impactful playwrights and poets in theatrical history, on his birthday no less, and we cannot wait to see you there!

Cast Party

Capital Region Festival of Theatre is throwing a CAST PARTY at the historic Cohoes Music Hall, hosted by Playhouse Stage Company. All proceeds will benefit the inaugural Festival, to be presented in 2025.

Join us for an evening celebrating the extraordinary wealth of theatrical talent and opportunities in the Capital Region, which boasts 90 theatre companies, a Broadway touring house, a LORT D Regional Theatre, a professional theatre managing a historic hall and free outdoor venue, eight colleges (five of which have theatre majors), twenty-four school districts and dozens of youth groups. A night of song, drama, and more, the Cast Party will feature an announcement detailing our upcoming inaugural 4 Day Region-Wide Festival in June of 2025. A giant “cast photo” will be taken featuring all the local theatres participating. Guests will enjoy light refreshments and desserts from some of the culinary powerhouses in the Spindle City, and a cash bar will be available. A film showcasing our local theatre companies and venues will be shown, non-performance awards honoring sustaining supporters will be distributed, and performances by new, current and past residents of the area will be presented, underlining the theme the the Capital Region is a GREAT place to love theatre your whole life long.
